  • 1.  Create watch with text String attribute

    Posted Jul 27, 2018 12:30 PM

    Hi All,

    We need to monitor the email queues (Example: how many emails do we have to wait to be sent?)

    We are using "nsExtendOutLine" attribute in Spectrum to see the data in real time. This attribute have 2 instances

    1) - 265 --->Mail queues in real time

    2) - 50 --->Threshold

    In the next picture we describe a little better:

    I need to create a whatch that generates an alarm when the threshold is exceeded but I do not have idea of doing it. Could someone guide me?

    Hello Friend!

    In my environment I have a clock as follows, I do not know if it will help you, there may be another way to create the clock, but this way it met the requirements.

    In your case, I think you should create an expression because it has 2 instances.

    On the Information tab, you must navigate to the Limits and clocks.

    To better understand the options you can check in docops.ca.com.

    Hi, thanks for the prompt response, sorry if i dont explain well.

    The knowledge about creating watches is clear, the doubt is with this watches in specific since I am combining text string-integer and I generate error when creating the watch. In short I have tried to create several whatches but with none I have obtained the expected result.

    I understand, I found this solution here in the community of an old post, I think it will help you!

    How can I resolve the name of a watch instance ID?

    Did you try the following:

    ( - > 0

    simply? (and of course setting the Watcher type as "BOOLEAN")

    In certain cases, Spectrum can auto-cast variables. I'm not sure it's going to be ok for that specific case, but just wanted to be sure you tried it already.

    Good day Christophe_Sperandio and Community.
    We have already managed to generate alarms with the above based on the following link:

    But we have an additional doubt:  This attribute is of type "Text Sring",
    We can not do this, because it generates the following error:

    How can you help us?
    Do you know any way to make this conversion, or change the attribute?
    If we were correct in the information provided?

    Thank you very much.

    I ran a few tests in the lab. To my knowledge there is no way around this functionality.
