  • 1.  Order to Stop and Start Services CA PM

    Posted May 04, 2018 10:17 AM

    Hi, hope you are well!

What is the order or the best practice to stop and start the Performance Management platform?

    I have the following:

    Stop services:

    1 - Performance Center
    2 - Data Aggregator
    3 - Data Collector
4 - Data Repository (vertica database)

    Start services:

    1- Data Repository
    2- Data Aggregator
    3 - Data Collector
    4 - Performance Center

That's correct? soon I have to stop the PM services due to clock change in my country. (go back 1 hour)

    I appreciate any comments
    Thank you!

    EOS.

    Emilio,

At a high level your order is almost correct.

    Stop

CA Performance Center (can be done at any time)

    Data Collector

    Data Aggregator

    Data Repository

    Start

CA Performance Center (can be done at any time)

    Data Repository

    Data Aggregator

    Data Collector

For much more detailed information, see the KB Article at the bottom of this post.  There is one potential gotcha when starting CA Performance Center, specifically regarding the caperfcenter_console service.  This service MUST start after the caperfcenter_devicemanager service.  Generally I delay starting caperfcenter_console until about 15-20 seconds after I have started the caperfcenter_devicemanager service.

How to properly restart he CA Performance Management environment:

Hi Troy, thanks for your feedback!

Hi Troy, thanks for your feedback!

I'm gonna see the KB article and also I'll keep in mind the order starting services of CA Perfromance Cente. As you said, I will wait some seconds after start the caperfcenter_device manager then I'll start the caperfcenter_console.

    Thanks a lot!
    Have a good weekend.
