  • 1.  Spectrum GUI client freezes from time to time

    Hello CA,

     

    Already for quite some months we are having complaints from our Backoffice with GUI's freezing from time to time.

    This issue happens in all env we are running (10.2.2 prod env) & 10.3 test env. It seems something on the laptop, PC interferes with the GUI causing the freezes. Our external reseller (Simac) and PC's not having update policies do not have this issue. 

    We are running Kasperky antivirus on all desktops.

    Hi Lieven,

    One item to check is the model repository setting:

     

    CA Spectrum OneClick client has performance issues - CA Knowledge 

     

    When the client hangs, do you notice increased cpu for any Kaspersky processes?

     

    Otherwise you can try grabbing stack dumps of the client while it's frozen and see what threads are running.  Are you running the OC server on Windows?  If so, zip up the $SPECROOT/java directory and move the zip to the client machine.  Unzip it. Open Task Manager and get the pid of the OC java client.  In a windows shell, navigate to the java/bin directory.  Run jstack on the pid:

     

    jstack pidofOCjava > OC_Stack.OUT

     

    For example:

     

    jstack 3442 > OC_Stack.OUT

     

    Run it again:  jstack 3442 > OC_Stack2.OUT  or to append it to the first file:    jstack 3442 >> OC_Stack.OUT

     

    Review the threads in the OC_Stack.OUT files. It may give an idea.

    Hello Jay,

     

    It is not a performance issue, our test environment was a fresh reinstall (10.3) and even there the screen freezes from time to time

    Neither is it Kasperky (process CPU < 5%)

     

    SS & OC are running on RHEL 7.5, client on W7, W10 and others.

     

    What is the best way to debug this issue? We are getting quite desperate... Something was pushed to our client PC's and since then screen freezes from time to time

     

    Any help is very welcome

    Hi Lieven,

      Since your clients are on Windows but your OC are on linux, you'll need to open a ticket so one of us can upload the java directory from a Windows OC server to gather stacks.

    You could also take a look at the Windows event log during the times of the hang.  Maybe something in there will give a clue.

    Hi Lieven,

    I also have the same freeze problem. I am in version 10.3.2. Spectrum is installed on red hat 7.4. The java clients are mostly on Windows and some on Linux.
    The freeze can last 10 seconds as 30 seconds and very random.

    Do you still have the problem?

    If no, how was the problem solved?
