WA_link model creations

Hi,

for the first time we have Juniper routers modeled in Spectrum, and for the first time we see appearing WA_LINK models attached to them. Is there an attribute that needs to be set in order to prevent this ?

What is the added value of having WA_LINK models ?

WA_Links represent point to point serial connections. For more information please reference Wide Area Link Monitoring - CA Spectrum - 10.2 to 10.2.3 - CA Technologies Documentation 

 

If you do not want them created:

 

1. Log into a OneClick console as an ADMIN user

 

2. Find and select the VNM model

 

3. Click on the Information tab in the Component Detail panel

 

4. Find and expand the AutoDiscovery Control -> Modeling and Protocol Options subview

 

5. Set Create WA_Link Models to No

 

If you are running AutoDiscovery configurations, in the Modeling Configuration view of the discovvery configuration, uncheck the Create Wide Area Link Models check box.

The flag works indeed.

What I would be interested to understand is why we have never seen WA_link models being created in the past in our environment ? Is it because only our new Juniper devices have the MIBs that are used by Spectrum for that ? If yes, can you tell us which MIBS these are ?

It is my understanding the creation of the WA_Link is not based on a specific mib but on the ifType of the interface and the model type used to mode that interface in the Spectrum database.

 

For example, an ifType of 22 (propP2PSerial) modeled in the Spectrum database using the Serial_IF_Port model type will have a WA_Link model created.

In our case we have the WA_link models connected to

ifType  propVirtual (53)

and of model type Gen_IF_Port .

 

But we had plenty of such interfaces already without a single WA_link model. We get these only for Juniper.

Any other idea ?
