Here's the situation.  I am patched up through 10.2.1.X and I have a Cisco 8500 WLC modeling AIRCAP3702I-B-KP APs in individual cans based on their location.  All the APs have DHCP addresses and as soon as one goes off line and comes back up, I get either a redundant IP alarm or it just doesn't see the new IP and reports the AP as dead.  With the new patch, whenever I do a AP discovery through the Manager, all the APs get pulled out of their cans and with 1800 APs, this can be a pain to resort them in their locations. I thought the discovery was supposed to recognize the unique MAC address of the APs to keep this from happening?

    Hi Mike,

You mention the new patch…are you talking about plain 10.2.1 or are you talking about the Spectrum_10.02.01.BMP_10.2.101patch for 10.2.1 which includes this fix:

Symptom: When APs get new IPs then the AP is moved to the WLC's container.

Resolution: Changed code to keep the AP in its container instead of moving to WLC's container after getting new IP.

Are your AP moving from one WLC to another?

    Cheers
