  • 1.  CA Spectrum pre-provisioning

    Hello all,

We would like to know if Spectrum has some kind of 'pre-provisioning capabilities'. We'd like to add an asset even before it is joignable on the network using the REST API.

Currently we try to do this but we receive an error stating that the device is not reachable so can't be modelled.

Is Spectrum capable of adding a device before it is reachable by trying automatically to discover un-modelled devices ?

    Thanks for your response

I ran some tests in my lab and found if Spectrum could not communicate with the ip it will not create the model using the REST API.

However, the Command Line Interface (CLI) will create the model even if Spectrum cannot communicate with the ip address.

You can also create the model from OneClick using the Model by Type method which will also create the model even if Spectrum cannot communicate with the ip address.

The downside of creating models from CLI is that you need to specify exact model type for the device created. If you don't know the exact type of the device to be modeled, it's a problem as you miss some capabilities certified in Spectrum.
