  • 1.  Spectrum 10.2 on Win 2008std

    Posted Dec 21, 2016 03:35 AM

    Hello,

Has anyone had a successful installation \ upgrade of spectrum 10.2 on a windows 2008 std (64bit) server ?

I tried installing and upgrading to Spectrum 10.2 but after the installation complete i'm having issues with location server not running.

This is only happening with win 2008 std.

    had no problems with 2008R2.

Did anyone else had the same issue ?

    Thanks

Not aware of any specific known issues with Win2008 Spectrum 10.2 install. Perhaps you're seeing some permissions issues preventing Location Server from running?

Have you opened a support ticket to take a closer look?

    Hi Avi,

    I believe you need to have at least SP2 to install and run Spectrum 10.1 or 10.2 as per the following;

System Requirements for Installing CA Spectrum - CA Spectrum - 10.1 to 10.1.2 - CA Technologies Documentation

But as Jason states, best to open a support ticket so we can investigate directly.

Do you mean to say we cannot upgrade to 10.2 if we are on Windows 2008 or 2008 SP2?

We have servers on Win 2008 R2 Standard which we are planning to upgrade , so the upgrade dosent work?

Hi Phani.Devulapalli - We´ve published a product advisory that contains details about the problem uncovered with Spectrum 10.2 and Windows Server 2008 SP2.  The advisory is posted under the Spectrum Upgrade section of the Community: here

For Windows, you can install Spectrum 10.2 on Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 (64 bit), Windows Server 2012 (64 bit), or Windows Server 2012 R2 (64 bit).

So can I confirm that there is no intended fix for this ?

One estate of some 15 servers is Win 2008 SP2 and at 10.1.2, we have a regular upgrade schedule to keep in line with PEN testing.

So whilst we can not upgrade to 10.2 will this be the same for ANY further release of spectrum or will this be fixed in say 10.2.1 or even 10.3 etc ?

For our future planning this is a very important question.

Hi meaja05 James_Dolan do you have an update on my question ?

If no fix is there for Windows 2008 R2 then in effect then spectrum on these servers is EOL ?

Hello Ian - Platform support for Windows Server 2008 SP2 has been removed.  There will not be a "fix / patch" provided.  Official support for Windows Server 2008 SP2 is not planned for inclusion with future Spectrum releases.

For Windows, you can install Spectrum 10.2 on Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 (64 bit), Windows Server 2012 (64 bit), or Windows Server 2012 R2 (64 bit).

If you have specific questions about planning for a Spectrum upgrade please contact CA Technical Support and we can have a more detailed discussion.

    Regards -
