Spectrum 10: Java OutOfMemoryError

Hi all,

I installed Spectrum 10 last week and I'm getting a fatal internal web server error. Looking at the logs, I get the following line:

java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: GC overhead limit exceeded

The Java heap setting in Spectrum admin is at 512MB

 

What can be causing this, and how do I correct it?

Hi Kurt,

 

we are running Spectrum on Sparc/Solaris Systems so i don't have any experience with it on WIndows Systems.

But i would increase the RAM Size to 768 or 1024 MB!

Thanks ener. I've never had this before either.

I've increased the memory heap for Spectrum, and then rebooted the server.

Currently it's operational, but will see what happens.

Hi Kurt,

                If you are running CA Spectrum 10 the default minimum OneClick Server memory should be 4GB.  If yours was set to 1GB, then I would expect problems as the memory requirement for 10.0 is much higher than previous versions.  If you are running SRM on that box as well, you may need to bump it up to 8 GB depending on your event rate.

 

If you have it set that high and experience another outofmemory issue, please open a ticket so that we can investigate as we didn’t experience these in testing or in the 10.0 beta as long as the memory was configured properly.

I have it with 8GB and  get the same error, but with an old version of spectrum.

i got this when we have a network problem and all the spectrum server cannot poll any device, the spectroserver dont hangup, but oneclick did it.

 

how much ram  have it?  512 if the conf of Java heap setting
