CAPM - Vertica DB initialize for ever

    Hi all,

    due to some disks works, my vertica fails to start

    the db is in initialize state FOREVER.

     

    any ideas what can I do in order to make is start?

    Hi Amitay,

     

    Its very difficult to say why the vertica taks a long time to start up or does not start up without looking at the vertica.log

     

    From past experiences, available space in the hard drive can be one of the cause.

    hi

    thanks for answer.

    I spoke with vertica support

    they says that it means that the db is corrupted

    I've restore to last good db and its all ok

    hate vertica

    I am sorry to hear that the vertica database was corrupt. Did vertica support say why it was corrupt and how this can be avoided next time? This will help the wider community.

    well, when vertica cant start up, according to vertica support something is wrong in the DB.

    you cant read vertica logs.

    they try to restore an early version - restore fail.

     

    in order to create vertica schems:

    1.drop DB from vertica admin tool

    2. uninstall DA

    3. uninstall DC

    4. reinstall DA - during install you are asked for create new scheme

    5. reinstall DC
