Tagging multiple devices

I could not find a way to tag multiple devices with the same tag. Having thousands of servers, it is not manageable to tag them all manually. Any ideas? Thanks!

Hi Nadja,

 

There is no way to really easily do this. In general it would be expected that you add the tags at the same time you add the device, which would generally be less work than going in and adding later. That said, here are some suggestions that may helpful:

- You can use the API to add tags to existing devices. You may find it quicker to use an API script to add tags as desired. This will take extra work up front creating the script, but could make it easier to add tags.

- If you use the device discovery feature you can have it automatically add tags to the devices it discovers.

Hi Nadja, Another option is to export the devices using the IMPORT/EXPORT button on the Devices page, update the Tags column in the resulting CSV file and importing the file, possibly trimmed to a subset of rows, back in.
