  • 1.  Remote Control - Connections History

    Posted Nov 10, 2015 10:10 AM

    Hi all,

Is there a place in DSM Explorer where I can check the users that connected via Remote Control on specific computers?

We're trying to identify an user, however it's been more than 10 days since the connection was made, I couldn't find the user at the agent logs.

    Thank you.

    Hi marlon.venancio

Sessions are logged in "Remote Control - Previous Sessions

    rcs.png

however by default this is purged every 24 hours. This interval is controlled in config policy

    rc1.png

You can also configure event logging to record sessions but by default this is off

    rc2.png

so I am sad to say if you have not changed either of these from the defaults and the rchost log on the host pc does not have the information you need then I do not think you will be able to find this.

    regards

    Rich

    Hi

You may want to check the DSM Reporter there are several canned reports that may meet your needs a couple that I can advise to try are

once you launch the DSM Reporter by selecting Tools from DSM Explorer and then DSM Reporter

expand the following "/Report Templates/Remote Control/All Sessions by Viewer Name"

this report will give you the following information:

PLease try these and let us know if that helps you

    Thanks

    Joe

    Description
All remote control sessions currently registered in the MDB, grouped by viewer name.
    Query
The Report will contain: All Sessions

    Host

    Viewer

    User

    Time

    Duration

    Description

    Reason session was terminated

    /Report Templates/Remote Control/Selected Sessions by Viewer Name/

    Description

Selected remote control sessions currently registered in the MDB, grouped by viewer name. Only sessions with viewer names matching a specified pattern will be listed.
    Query
The Report will contain: All sessions where viewer name matches a specified pattern
The user will be asked for objects to include when the report runs.
    Fields
The report will list the following properties for the objects found:

    Host

    Viewer

    User

    Time

    Duration

Thank you wiejo, but the records were purged...I scheduled a report of RC Connections per Viewer to run daily and save the results for 30 days.

Thank you all for the help.

By default the manager purges the connection history after 24 hours. You can extend this period but I would recommend that you run regular reports and use that as the method for long term saving of the session history.

You should have an event in the Windows Application log  from when the session occurred.
