    Hi All,

     

    We have recently deployed Internet Explorer 11 to all the machines successfully. After viewing in the softwrae discovery in group details it is showing deifferent versions

    Internet Explorer 9.11.9600.17501.

     

    After checking the registry entry on one machine, it is showing the same but scVersion is 11.0.9600.17501.

    On some machine in software discovery it showing both version i.e. Internet Explorer 9 version 9.11.9600.17501 as well as Microsoft Internet Explorer 11 for Windows 7/Windows 2008 R2 X64 64 vesion 11 at DSM explorer.

     

    Is there anyway to get the proper inventory for IE 11 ?

    Hi Wasique,

     

    There are 2 ways to discover IE;

     

    1)Through CA Intellisigs which depends on the "Browsers" Intellisig to detect multiple Browsers and versions automatically including IE.

    2)Through CA Provided XML based signatures which is the traditional way of discovering IE.

     

    There are filters in the Client Automation Explorer UI to check the appropriate source of detection. You can also right click on a discovered release and go for Details and check the "Discovery Source".

     

    The reason why two IE signatures are getting discovered is due to the fact that both the above discovery methods are active.

     

    I tried to reproduce the problem by installing IE 11 on Windows 7 (64-bit) and Windows 2008 R2 in our lab and the discovery seems to be fine.

    Please open a support case so that this can be looked into further.

    Hi Subrat,

     

    The issue is that when we are selecting discovery method as CA Provided, it is showing 'Microsoft Internet Explorer 11 for Windows 7/Windows 2008 R2 X64 64' but when we select Heuristic is showing Internet Explorer 9 and there is no Internet Explorer 9 version is installed on the machine.

    HI Wasique

     

     

    Heuristic Scanning

    cans the Windows Add or Remove Program database, MSI database, and shortcuts in the desktop and Start menu for the installed applications.

     

    If there is a trace from the above.. Heuristic scan will detect it..

     

    Could you check the relate PC with IE9 detected if installed it previourly IE 9?

     

    You can either use software signature first if no detect than you need to check if the signature file up to date if yes than you can try scan the whole machine with heuristic scan. If it is ok with heuristic scan. you can tell us so we can create a signature file for you. Otherwise It will take more time.. to turn on both scan.
