Upgrade AE 11.2 to 12.2: How to update DB schema?

Hello,

First of all, excuse me for posting in wrong thread yesterday. (Sorry, @Diane Craddock!)

We're about to upgrade our Automation Engine 11.2 to 12.2.

As @Carsten Schmitz suggested yesterday, we will follow these update steps:​​

1. Install new server and utilities binaries
2. Carry over settings from old to new .ini files
3. Shut down the software
4. Update the database
5. Bring up the new server

We're not sure how to do step "4. Update the database". Please, can someone explain how to update the database schema?

We tried to load new DB schema (Automation.Platform\db\general\12.2\UC_UPD.TXT), DB Load Utility reports an error:

20191029/135043.033 - U00038081 Version of database objects: '11.2.2+hf.7.build.707'

Hi Libor,

please let me know the exact version of the DBLoad Utility you are using. You will find it in the first line of the log file.

Where did you install the DB-Utilities 12.2? Are you setting up 12.2 on new servers or are you installing it in parallel on to the existing 11.2 servers?

Sorry for late reply.

We're installing in parallel to the existing 11.2 version.

Error was on our side. We used old version (11.2) of DB Load utility.

This is correct version of DB Load which successfully updated DB:

U00038002 DLL 'ucybdbld', version '12.2.4+build.1569307386171'. Start parameter: '', (changelist '1569225363')

We tried to load new DB schema (Automation.Platform\db\general\12.2\UC_UPD.TXT)

You need the utility of the new version AND the new DB folder (from image) must be located in your utilities directory (parallel to bin and temp of utility)

Thank you for your advice. We used old version of DB Load.

Using 12.2 version of DB Load successfully updated the DB.

Otherwise update/upgrade your system and check if the problem still exists.
