We had a situation where a windows application failed, and the external file that was registered to that run had nothing in it. Then when we tried to download the file from the AWI it was unable to, but it didn't throw any errors either... it just left us hanging, wondering why it wouldn't download.
So I submitted a suggestion to add user feedback for this use-case;
