We are using Oracle DB in our system and it's going to be down for some time due to remediation.
What will be the best way to stop the Automic during these period.
I've two options two take down the Automic(UC4 11.2).
1. Stopping the UC4 services from Main Server and to completely shutdown the UC4
2. Instead, I'm thinking to stop the client so that no jobs will run. Is this is a preferable approach?, if yes do we have stop client 0 as well?
for PROD and any "important" ENV I would Shut down the Automation Engine Services.
for sandboxes, test, dev, ... etc. its enough to stop the client.
BTW: Client 0 will always be stopped (there is no possibility to start) because its the "CONFIG" - client
Thank you, so does this mean I've to kill all CP's and WP's?
If you use SMGR you can choose in Contex menu shutdown uc4 system - thats the corrct way.
Unfortunately, we are not using SMGR.
if you are not using the smgr the documentation say
Shut down the Automation Engine. (Server computer)
more details see the documentation "Installing the Automation Engine for UNIX"
I would recommend to use the smgr if possible
Update, I've been trying to install the Service Manager Dialog program and
able to install it in one of our windows server. However, I am not able to
connect to our main server(Linux Box) from this dialog program.
The Linux host has the same port number as well.

Any error messages?
No error messages, I think it's due to firewall. I am not able to ping as well.
I will update soon.
Thanks a lot for your support.
Finally I was able to connect to both CLI and Dialog Process of Service manager.
I had to give the IP of the AE Server instead of the hostname in Dialog process and there was a host name issue in CLI Mode as well.
Thanks a lot FrankMuffke & kreth02 for your support.
