  • 1.  Restricting access to Service Manager Dialog

    Hi Team,

I am trying to find a workaround for a customer (since I did not find this functionality) and it might be beneficial for everyone else who wants to limit the capabilities of Service Manager Dialog.

Currently, you can do quite a lot of things with CPs and WPs:

What the customer is trying to do limit the option for the current user so that he can only start and stop CP/WP - that means not having access to properties or Shutdown (UC4 System).

Currently, there is a password protected access:

Although it restricts access to Service Manager Dialog (you cannot start/stop or view CP/WP properties), it completely restricts the access instead of locking components.

Would it be possible to have a different way?

    Hi Team,

thats a binary thing - you may do all or nothing :-)

for your CP/WP issue the only way I know would be using the commandline tools for SMGR and building a Commandline Solution fpr the staff.

You probably could split up SMGR to 2 SMGR Instances (1x CP/WP 1x Agents) but this would not prevent anyone from stopping the system.

BTW: if a user has the right to stop CPs/WPs he is also able to stop the whole system by simply stopping all WPs.....

    [EDIT]
it might work if you remove the relevant paremeters from the *SMD file and restart the SMGR - not tested myself...

    cheers, Wolfgang
