  • 1.  Using AWS RDS for CA_UIM Database

    Posted Jul 15, 2020 02:57 AM
The most recent post on this topic was six years ago. I'm just wondering if anything has changed. Is it ok to use AWS RDS as to contain the CA_UIM database?

This is not tested by DEV or QA so is not officially supported.
In theory, if the version of the SQL server you choose matches what is on our PSM then it SHOULD work.

Thanks, Gene. My main concern was about this statement: "One reason is the Nimsoft SLM DB requires permissions not available in RDS."

I wasn't sure if that was still an issue. We don't have any DBAs, so this could be an ideal solution for us.

So if you can not provide full SA level rights then yes you will probably run into issues.
I am not familiar with the RDS setup or permissions.
Maybe others who use it in their environment can chime in here.
