  • 1.  Cabi_external probe on UIM Primary hub

    Hi Team,

Can we deploy cabi_external probe on UIM Primary hub server and what are the sizing guidelines for cabi_external probe? I did not see any reference in docops document as well for cabi_external probe sizing.

According to documents, the cabi_external probe should no be deployed on CABI Server and UMP server. However, document does not mention whether it can be installed on UIM Primary hub.

Actually, I will be deploying cabi_external probe at a customer site.

    Thanks,

    Jitendra Sharma

The cabi_external does not need much in the way of sizing.
usually in a large environment having the probe set with max 2 gigs ram is fine.

We do recommend that it be on a dedicated robot.
I do not think any testing has been done with it on the primary hub.
It should not be a problem but you might have to re Apply your uimhome and adminconsole apps if they stop working.

    Thanks Gene.

I think, customer may not be willing to provided dedicated server for cab_external probe as he already has UMP, Primary Hub, CABI Server along with Tunnel and Site hubs.

So, other option I think is database server in this case. Of-course, that should have proper memory available.

    What's your thought?

    Thanks,

the cabi_external is not an IO intensive probe so I do not see any reason you could not install a robot on the DB server and run it from there.
