Best UIM upgrade path to consider?

We are currently on UIM 8.2 and plan on moving our production, 8.2 > 8.47 >8.51.

 

We are concerned about the impact of moving everything in one swoop As far as support, they do not recommend anything in particular but I am hoping to hear from people in live production environments, in major enterprises.

 

Do you recommend going from 8.2>8.47 then taking a week or something in between to see how things work?

 

Or should we take the extra time and do it all in one night?

 

We have 24x7 SLA's to our customers so it's a leverage between being down for 3-4hours or, 2 hours here and 2 hours there. I hope this makes sense, thanks.

My preference would be a two step upgrade (8.2 to 8.4.7 and 8.4.7 to 8.5.1) as 8.2 to 8.5.1 directly is a long path and it makes it difficult to troubleshoot in case something gets messed up during the upgrade .

 

Again this depends on whether you can afford the  double downtime
