Fellow ADA Ninjas,
Please be aware of an issue that we are currently seeing in Windows 2008 ADA Environments (Directly from the 10.4 Release Notes):
"Single-Port Monitor service may fail to start after upgrade on Windows Server 2008 R2"
Problem: After a new install or upgrade of CA Application Delivery Analysis to version 10.4, the
Packet Capture Driver service fails to start. The following error appears in the Windows event log:
Error 4/6/2015 2:19:03 PM Service Control Manager 7000 None "The CA ADA NPF Packet
Capture Driver service failed to start due to the following error:
Windows cannot verify the digital signature for this file. A recent hardware or
software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly
or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source."
Solution: This release of CA Application Delivery Analysis requires support for SHA-2 code signing,
which is not included with Windows Server 2008 R2 by default. To successfully upgrade CA Application
Delivery Analysis to version 10.4, install Microsoft patch kb3033929. For more information, see
Microsoft Security Advisory 3033929. (https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/security/3033929.aspx)
Note that you may install the patch before or after installing CA Application Delivery Analysis.
Special Thanks to Michael Schoellhorn (CA Support, EU) for pointing this out.
