    Hi,

I am trying to figure out some monitoring best practice. I have an environment which is two Oracle DB servers, plus two Oracle Application servers, and two Presentation layer servers ( apache) all are clustered (2*DB, 2*APP, 2 * apache) all are linux. I am trying to monitor actual availabilty which means I cant monitor individual servers as they are in clusters, I think with SQL / Exchange / Windows I would use the Cluster Probe to monitor the cluster service as an example, but what is the best method for doing it in Oracle / Linux. --

    Any help is truly appreciated.

I have used SLAs using an 'or' comparison of both servers or services with some success. For alerting nas rules to correlate the events can be used. typically make the service down invisible in a pre processing rule. Then make it visible again in an AO rule if the count reaches 2
