  • 1.  Migrate NSM to Nimsoft

    Hi All,

We have planned to migrate NSM to Nimsoft. Is there  a way to extract out configuration of NSM (system agent & log agent)? So that we can use it as a base to configure in Nimsoft for cdm probe and logmon probe.

CA services has a conversion routine that can extract NSM configurations (system agent, script agent, log agent) en convert these to the corresponding UIM probes.

    Hi Luc,

Can you please throw some light how to extract configurations in NSM and convert these to corresponding UIM probes as we are doing it manually now and it has become a tedious task for us. It would be great help for us.

    Thanks and Regards,

    Rahul

    Hi,

CA services France/Belgium have a package that will:

    - extract all NSM agent config info via a script that will loop on all servers that are reported via wvgethosts to get a mkconfig for every agent on that server.

    - the generated configuration output is than input into a conversion routine that will translate the cailaga2, scriptagt and system agent info into the UIM probe configs (cdm, logmon, processes, ntservices, dirscan)

    - a special probe (cmdb_config) will that use all these configuration files to deploy them to the correct robot

But until now this is only used with assistance of CA services (takes not much time)

    Regards,

Thanks a lot Luc for the information. I guess it would be good if CA shares it with all the customers of both NSM and nimsoft. May be worth raising an idea. I will raise one and hope for the reply from CA.

    Hi Halim,

You can use ldconfig command to extract it to flat text file and check what is getting monitored via System agent and log agent in NSM. Then, you need to map it to cdm, dirscan and logmon probes in nimsoft accordingly. It's a very tedious task.

    Thanks and regards,

    Rahul

    **correction

Sorry, its mkconfig not ldconfig ...

mkconfig - to take the profile backup.

ldconfig - to push the profile to the server.
