snmpgtw trap variables

I am working with the snmpgtw to send Nimsoft/UIM traps to Spectrum.  Something I noticed though with the snmpgtw is that in the GUI config, the custom fields(custom 1-5) are not available to send.  Is this an option if configured in raw configure or am I just S.O.L on using those message fields in Spectrum?

I would assume that since the typical implementation of the snmpgtw listens to the same messages as NAS (alarm or alarm2) it wouldn't be expecting the custom fields to be populated since that usually happens at processing time. So my thoughts are the custom fields won't be available in the probe.

I was hoping to use a pre-propcessing rule to 'launder'  the event.custom_1 through 5 and then be able to send those over to Spectrum.  Would those not be included if subscribing to alarm or alarm2?
