Quick question about CDE - do scheduled phases execute only if the preceding phase completes? Or will it run based on it's schedule regardless of the state of previous phases?

havn't done much with cde, but I would believe it depends on the dependencies that have been defined? do phases depend on each other? if yes, I would hope, that the schedule phase doesn't get executed if the phase it depends on failed/didn't finish

looking forward to an official answer to that though

Let's break this down a bit for clarity purposes:

    • if a phase is set to "manual" then you can start it manually, regardless of the state of the previous phase
    • if a phase is set to "automatic" then it won't start automatically if the previous phase is in a failed state (marked by the little red dot in the icon next to the phase name).  You can override this by hitting the 'run phase' button.
    • if a phase is scheduled it will start at it's scheduled date/time, regardless of the state of the previous phase.  You can add an approval to the phase in case you care about the state of the previous phase - that way a human can make the decision to start this phase at its scheduled time or not.
