Hello Gerry,
You can definitely have two versions of Java installed on the same Windows host. If your other application(s) only need the Java RE and do not launch any webstart (JavaWS) applications, your best bet would be to associate Windows to open .jnlp files with your Java 8 instance by default.
If your other application does need to open .jnlp files, then you'll need to look at other options.

Subject: UVC Console Webstart in Windows 10 with Multiple Java versions
Hello,
Can someone kindly assist me on how we can concurrently use multiple Java version on Windows 10, with UVC Console Webstart? Our applications team apparently only has Java 7 installed on their laptops because of an application they use that is only supported by it. We're planning to upgrade our $U to 6.10, which can only use the latest Java version 8.
Thanks in advance for your help and best regards.
Gerry
