We are installing New Relic on Automic AE servers which runs Windows 2016.  Our AE is 12.2.2.  Has anyone set up New Relic to interface with AE to get Java metrics and anything else from Automic?  If so, can you provide information on the steps needed?

    Thanks in advance.

Hi, have you looked at the External Monitoring Interface (EMI):

    https://docs.automic.com/documentation/webhelp/english/AWA/12.2/DOCU/12.2/AWA%20Guides/help.htm#AWA/Admin/admin_ExternalMonitoringInterface_EMI.htm?Highlight=EMI

Or use New Relic's log management capabilities to monitor the various Automic log files.

Thanks for the information.  From what I read, this appears to be another monitoring tool that that monitor applications including AE.  However, the company already has a monitoring tool, New Relic, and wants to avoid having several different monitor tools to do similar tasks.

EMI sounds interesting and would only be used as a means to monitor AE's system.  New Relic monitoring traffic and server function.  It charts the metrics that is server related and maybe more (still new to this product).

Thanks for pointing out this tool.  Still looking for set up information from Automic to New Relic.

    Hi  @Lester Chew

EMI is not a standalone tool to monitor the AE, it can be used to get a JMX based monitoring service that you can use in New Relic with e.g this:
    https://docs.newrelic.com/docs/integrations/host-integrations/host-integrations-list/jmx-monitoring-integration

EMI connection New Relic would be one of the "Clients" in this picture.

TLDR: With EMI you can export the monitoring data via JMX to New Relic, EMI is only used to provide the JMX interface (that is the default use case btw).

    Best

I have a follow up question.  I have been informed that JMX has vulnerabilities.  The words used was that it could be opened to anyone to use.  Can anyone comment on any JMX vulnerabilities?
