I'm interested in taking the VMWare View training and have a few questions. I have worked with VMWare, but have never taken any formal training. I have experience with working with the guest but none with the actually ESX host. Do I need to take the VSphere course? Also why can't I find the View training anywhere in North America on the VMWare learning site?

I assume you are asking about the new View 4 course? It has literally just been released, I got access to the instructor materials electronically about 10 days ago - that's why you don't see many dates available for it yet. You are expected to have a certain amount of ESX and vCenter knowledge, the View course does assume that you are at VCP level for vSphere - only you or the training provider can decide whether it would be appropriate for you to do the View course with your current vSphere skills.

The official pre-requisites are here: http://mylearn.vmware.com/mgrreg/courses.cfm?ui=www&a=one&id_subject=17873

Okay, looks like I should take the VSphere course. But, I noticed that the View V3 course is also not offered anywhere in North America.

My Global Knowledge colleagues over in the US have a View 3 course in Las Vegas in February:
