Does anyone know if we the VCP-DCV still requires the prerequisite course ? I saw an update saying that it was no longer required from May 2024 but on the broadcom site it says it is still required ?

    Hello,

If you hold no VCP certifications,  they recommend to gain experience and to attend one course, but not as Required.

STEP 1 : (Recommended) Gain experience with vSphere 7.x or vSphere 8.x
STEP 2 : (Recommended) Attend one of the training courses
STEP 3 : (Required) Pass the qualifying exam

Let me ask for a further clarification.

Reading page VMware Certification Program - Frequently Asked Questions (broadcom.com) I understand  that if somebody passes the exam for the VCP-DVC certification without attending the course he/she gets a "[v2]" certification, is it correct?

To what extent is the "[v2]" certification worth less than the standard certification?

If a third-party program requires a VCP-DCV certification, can he/she use the VCP-DCV certification [v2] instead of the standard one?

    Regards

What do you mean by "worth less"? To who might it be "worth less"?

The paths are on this page: https://www.broadcom.com/support/education/vmware/certification/vcp-dcv

The path for a newbie shows no training requirement, just recommended:

Please let me know of any site that states its Required. We do still list recommended training. But the program no longer requires you to take a training to get certified. If you were already certified and wanted to upgrade, the training path is still available

The [v2] is simply an indicator of the different ways someone could have earned the 2024 certification. If it just says 2024, then the candidate had to complete a training or other requirement plus the exam to earn the cert. If it includes [v2], it means the candidate took the exam only with no other prerequisites.

NO, the VCP-DCV does not require to take the course anymore, but those who attend the course and pass the exam will have a different badge from those who only pass.

    Hope that helps !
