VCP: VMware Certified Professional Discussions

  • 1.  upgrade to VCP-CMA 2023

    Can someone elaborate below

there are two pre-req to obtain VCP-CMA 2023

    1) pass 2V0-31.21 exam

    2) complete one of VMware vRealize Automation: Install, Configure, Manage [V8.3] or VMware vRealize Automation: Install, Configure, Manage [V8.3] - On Demand trainings

So if pass 2V0-31.21 exam first and then get VCP in any track with a 2020 version or newer (i.e. Spring Certified Professional 2023) still will get VCP-CMA 2023 certificate or must have to attend one of above trainings?

    Note: The current VCPs are VCP7-CMA , VCP-DCV 2019.

Neither of your VCPs is recent enough to be considered upgradeable, so the requirements for you to achieve any VCP are the same as for a newbie.

The order in which you meet the requirements for a VCP is not important, so yes if you passed the exam for CMA and then achieved a different VCP you would also be awarded the CMA VCP.

At the moment the path which applies to you on the VCP-CMA page is either of the “No VCP” paths: https://www.vmware.com/learning/certification/vcp-cma.html

But the moment you were to achieve a different VCP such as VCP-AM, the path which applies to you for CMA would be “VCP in any track with a 2020 version or newer” so the requirements you would need to meet to achieve VCP-CMA would have changed.

Thanks a lot for the clarification Scott,

Two things if you can elaborate a bit please.

    1) I have completed training for VMware vRealize Automation: Install, Configure, Manage [V8] , its same major version. So still I have to complete the VMware vRealize Automation: Install, Configure, Manage [V8.3] training or any exception here, as its waste of time and resources.

    2) To avoid VMware vRealize Automation: Install, Configure, Manage [V8.3] training, as already passed the 2V0-31.21 exam, if complete https://www.vmware.com/learning/certification/spring-certified-pro.html still will get VCP-CMA certificate?

The reason to choose https://www.vmware.com/learning/certification/spring-certified-pro.html , I have already started Learning Path: Spring Certified Professional training and after finishing this I will try to pass 2V0-72.22, and hoping but confused I will be awarded VCP-CMA 2023 also

    1) For as long as it is one of the "No VCP" paths which applies to your situation, you must meet the training requirement for that specific path, which is either the Aria Automation 8.10 training for the 2V0-31.23 exam OR the vRealize Automation 8.3 training for the 2V0-31.21 exam - exactly as stated for the two "No VCP" paths here: https://www.vmware.com/learning/certification/vcp-cma.html

    2) No, completing that Spring training on it's own won't give you a certification without also passing an exam such as 2V0-72.22, so it would still be the "No VCP" paths for the CMA which apply to you. Pass the 2V0-72.22 exam to complete the Spring certification and that changes the situation which applies to you.

    Thanks Scott.

What I get from your response, if I complete Spring training and pass 2V0-72.22 exam, I will also get VCP-CMA 2023?

After having conversation and response from VMware certification team, it seems have to complete training for 8.3.

I am just trying to explorer other way. As stated by VMware in certification pages the order doesn't matter for required option in list if noVCP.

if fulfill one option from right (exam) before, and then become VCP in other track (2020 or higher). still qualify for option "VCP in any track with a 2020 version or newer" or not ?

If you earn a different VCP, you just need to complete one of the required exams. Sounds like you already contacted  our support team and have the answer you need.
