Resetting root and admin passwords problem

Hello

NSX-T v 3.0.2.0.0.16887200 in a 3 node cluster, within a VCF 4.4.0 environment.

One of the config drift bundles for the SDDC manager is failing to install due to a credential issue with NSX.

The issue appears to be that the root and admin passwords are reverting to a previous value.

I have reset both passwords on all three nodes multiple times, however within a few seconds they are reverting to the previous passwords which does not match the password held in the SDDC manager.

It seems that there is some background sync task that is updating the passwords whenever I reset them.

Trying to update or remediate the password from the SDDC manager side fails.

Any ideas please?

What command did you use to change the password? From what I have seen others post, using passwd tends to change the password, but it later reverts. However, the correct command is:

set user admin password YourNewPassword

YOu can first reset the passwords of the admin and root users on the NSX-T appliances following this VMware official documentation: https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-NSX-T-Data-Center/3.2/administration/GUID-8816B842-2EC4-40A8-A618-F68DB29FABD2.html.

After this please use the update option within VCF SDDC manager to update the passwords of the NSX-T appliances into the SDDC database, and this should get successfully synced. These steps should resolve your issues.
