  • 1.  NSX managers on HDD instead of NVME

    Posted 15 days ago

In vSphere environment there is NVME and large HDD storage.

After deployment 3x NSX Managers, each is using 300GB of space with thick disk.

As per recommendation NSX Managers disks are configured as thick instead of thin, even they are now using around 40GB of space.

Would it be fine to move NSX Managers to slower HDD storage in order to free fast NVMe storage ? While leaving NSX Edge Gateway nodes on fast NVMe storage. Since network throughput is dependant on NSX Edge Nodes, it shouldn't impact network performance.

Is there some other impact that should be considered if NSX Managers are on slower HDD Storage ?

    Hello,

As far as I know there should be no impact if you can move the NSXT manager nodes to the HDD storage in such a way that the 3 node(assuming its a 3 node cluster) NSX management cluster would continue to remain in stable state. In other words you might have to do the storage migration one node at a time ensuring that the cluster state is maintained as stable right through.
