Log Insight vs vRealize Operations Manager

Was trying to figure out the purpose & the difference between Log Insight & vRealize Operations Manager.

Read few articles but could not exactly understand the difference between these 2 & also not clear where to use which tool.

Any idea what is the difference between these 2 tools & their purpose.

vRealize Operations Manager:

vRealize Operations lets you automate IT operations management, manage performance and gain visibility across physical and virtual infrastructure.

vRealize Log Insight:

vRealize Log Insight delivers heterogeneous and highly scalable log management with intuitive, actionable dashboards, sophisticated analytics and broad third party extensibility.

So, while vROPs collect primarily structure data, like performance metrics directly from solutions like vSphere, the vRLI collects unstructured data, like log messages mainly via Syslog.

What is the advantage I will be getting when I integrate Log Insight with vRealize operations ?

vRealize Log Insight (vLSI) collects the machine data (logs) which vROPS is not designed for. If you are looking for syslogging advance functionality it is must to have vLSI. vROPS is proactive monitoring tool which is primarily focused on Capacity planning. More you focus on capacity planning less time would be spent on troubleshooting.

Integration of vLSI and vROPS bring the advantage of automation. Any known event detected by vLSI can be captured by vROPS , pre-defined action can be automated using vROPS.
