VMware NSX

  • 1.  BFD down on external interface

    Hi team,

This is an GCVE environment in which we are getting BFD alerts in NSX manager UI. Though, All the services and VMs are up and running fine.

I have checked under T0 gateways for static routes BFD peers but it is not configured. Though I tried to login to Edge nodes and getting access denied. Looks like edge nodes are managed by Google.

Do I need to check Verify the Tier-0 Logical Router and TOR Connection? Or else the connectivity between  Cloud Router and my on-premises router.

A few things I would check:

Verify the connectivity and configuration of the Tier-0 Logical Router and the Top of Rack (TOR) connections within your NSX environment. Ensure that the logical routing is set up correctly and that there are no issues reported in the connections.

Check the connectivity between the Cloud Router (part of Google Cloud Platform) and your on-premises router. Issues in this connection could potentially cause BFD alerts. Verify the configurations on both ends, ensuring that routing, peering, and BFD settings align properly.

I would also check the BFD timer settings. You can do this on the T0 in the BGP neighbor settings. Perhaps these are set too aggressively or different settings are used between NSX and the ToR switches.
