  • 1.  Volunteers Needed: Beta Testing - Consuming REST APIs for COBOL or CICS in Compatibility Mode

    I'm pleased to share that we have new enhancements coming to Gen for consuming RESTful services. We would love your early feedback. Let me know if you would like to participate in Beta Testing.


    To participate in Beta Testing you will need:

    1. Gen applications generated in COBOL/Batch, or generated in CICS with Compatibility Mode.
    2. Be up to date on Gen v8.6.
    3. Join the Gen project on Validate.broadcom.com → Email Kim.Peelman@broadcom.com for an invite.

    Beta functionality includes:

    • Consuming RESTful services for COBOL/Batch applications
      • includes methods: Get, Post, Put, Delete
      • includes DB2 Attach Types: DB2_DSN, EXEC (or NONE)
      • includes support for applications in Compatibility Mode 
      • includes support for Security Schemes
      • includes configuration parameters to allow certain settings to be dynamically set in your PAD logic
    • Consuming RESTful services for CICS applications IN COMPATIBILITY MODE.
      • This functionality without Compatibility Mode was already published in January 2022. You can learn more in the community announcement HERE. 

    Out of Scope: 

    • excludes methods: Head, Patch, Copy, Options, …etc
    • excludes DB2 Attach Types: DLIBATCH and IMS_BMP
    • excludes support for TSOAE for testing
    • excludes the capability to specify configuration overrides in a file, similar to the callrest.properties file for Java applications

    Beta Testing is now open for 
    • Consuming RESTful services for COBOL/Batch applications
      • Consuming RESTful services for CICS applications IN COMPATIBILITY MODE.

      Log in at Validate.Broadcom.com <- If you don't have a membership, email Kim.Peelman@broadcom.com to request an invite. 
      Go to the Gen project. 
      In the top banner, select "Pre-Release Drops" from the Gen menu.
