  • 1.  DSTRIG not recognizing USS file when uploaded with SFTP.

    Posted Jan 17, 2023 05:07 PM

    We recently set up a new Event DSTRIG to detect a file in USS.  We've done this before without issues but for some reason this one detects the file when it's created with FTP but not when it's created with SFTP or a process referred to here as MFT which also uses SFTP.  We've verified that the file has data and a new date as shown below:

    image
    The DSTRIG statement is:

    DSTRIG /passport/custom/FTP_PPAVMSPL/CEG_VMS_PP_DC_TIME.tar USS

    I did check for authorization errors and don't see any.

    Do you have any suggestions on what might be causing this issue or what we can look for or at figure out why this isn't working?

    We do have another way to accomplish what we want but the fact that it doesn't recognize the file when it's uploaded with SFTP bothers me.

    Thanks,
    Donna Domovic

    Hello Donna,

    ESP requires the related SMF record type 92 subtype 11 from the LPAR to detect the USS file creation/update.

    I suggest that you check following:
    - If the USS folder is shared between multiple LPARs;
    - If the SFTP uses the LPAR address where no tracking ESP resides;
    - If the proper SMF record exists from the LPAR where tracking ESP resides.

    If more help is needed, you may open a support case for further review.

    Hope this helps,

    Lucy
