  • 1.  No IP address after upgrading to SEP

We are upgrading our SAV 10.1.7.7000 clients to SEP MR4 MP1a, and after SEP installs on some of our clients the NIC is unable to obtain an IP address.  The NIC shows as "connected", but it is not pulling an IP.  Uninstalling the NIC via device manager does not fix the issue.  We have to uninstall from device manager and also delete the .sys and .dll files related to the NIC.  This is happening on several models of PC's for us, Lenovo T60 and HP DC5700.  Has anyone else had this happen?

    You are not alone...

There are many discussions with regards to this.

See if that helps at all...

If not, do a Search in the Forums here for DHCP and see if any of the many threads helps you at all.

    Thanks for the response.

Yes we're using DHCP.  We are installing the Firewall feature, but are not currently using it.  The policy is not enabled and all the settings are as they were when the SEPM was installed.

I am going to send you a PM.

    *EDIT*

    Thank you.

    P.S.

You can indicate here, if it works...

Also, the firewall feature, if installed and not configured is on and by default blocks protocols.

The problem you will now face, is how, once you do use it, to get the policy out to the machines so they can be updated and the rules modified to allow DHCP...

    Catch 22 anyone?
