Best way to monitor or report on who is accessing the notification server?

Looking for a way to report on who is accessing the notification server with the purpose of seeing if techs are doing their jobs.  This isn't a security concern, basically more for accountability.

I have heard you can use the IIS logs but this would be too cumbersome.  Perhaps another product such as SEP and a putting a firewall rule in place for the particular URL of the notification server would do the trick.  Has anyone else had this question posed to them before?

for each object would track basic access (read\modify). The battle would be trying to figure out what objects to track in a report, obviously you wouldn't want to try all objects (the report probably would never finish!).
