ServiceDesk 7.1: Unable to search for contacts or create tickets

  • 1.  ServiceDesk 7.1: Unable to search for contacts or create tickets

I am trying to get a demo up and running of ServiceDesk 7.1 ahead of the March launch so that we can do initial testing and training. The issue we have now is that inside of an incident we can't search for a contact and then return that contact as the "primary contact" nor can we simply create a ticket. In both cases the window returns the simple error "An Error has occurred. Please try again later or contact...".

In testing we are running ServiceDesk 7.1 on Server 2008 R2 with SQLExpress 2008 on box (in production the SQL server will be off-box). The Application logs list numerous errors with "Unable to create vdir..." I believe the permissions are right but don't know where to look and what to look for. With SD 7.0 we tried using the instructions to run SQL off-box with an AD service account. Those instructions don't quite work in this case since Server 2008 runs IIS 7 and .Net 3.5.

Any insight, information or tricks would be greatly appreciated!

I solved this. There were a couple of URLs in the setup that were still pointing to SSL although I had uninstalled and re-installed SD. Changing those URLs to http:// rather than https:// fixed my issues so far.
