  • 1.  MS Office XP and Office 2010 using SWV on Windows 7

    I have a Winodws 7 Pro environment with MS Office 2010 installed on our workstations. I have packaged and deployed MS Office XP via SWV (6.3.1.53) to allow a select group of users to have MS Access XP and MS Access 2010. Both applications work with one expection. When any Office 2010 application is launched, the application runs through a repair before launching. Can someone exlpain why this happens?

    That's office repairing file associations between versions of office, when you launch one version it wants to have everything associated with it.  I believe that Office 2007 and 2010 have a registry flag set to prevent this behavior but I'm not sure what it is off the top of my head.

    I'm working on a Word 2003  (virtual) with an Office 2010 physical installation and i've used granular isolation as in this article by Jordan

    In my first test seems working .. so no repairs for me ....

    Hope the same with XP

    I added the registry key as outlined in

    but I get the same behaviour. I believe I entered the key correctly. I have posted a screen shot of the key I added in SWVAdmin to the other thread.

    Don't place the isolation rule inside the layer, it needs to be in the base.
