    Hi All,

    I have a customer with Altiris 7.6 HF4.

In the log we see this error:

Failed to get Symantec Management Agent registration status, could not contact the service 'Altiris Object Host Service'. Please make sure that service is started and functional.
There was no endpoint listening at net.pipe://localhost/rss/AtrsHostRemotingRequestService that could accept the message. This is often caused by an incorrect address or SOAP action. See InnerException, if present, for more details.
       [System.ServiceModel.EndpointNotFoundException @ mscorlib]

Since then, the Task Service dont start and all computer not can connect to the NS.

The handler 'Register' is failed to process request. The communication object, System.ServiceModel.Channels.ServiceChannel, cannot be used for communication because it is in the Faulted state.

Failed to call task server method: RegisterClient
The communication object, System.ServiceModel.Channels.ServiceChannel, cannot be used for communication because it is in the Faulted state.

    I tried:

    1. Uninstall Task Service.

    2. Boot

    3. Install Again

When Uninstall the Task Service, the AtrsHost.exe Service running normally.

After install, the AtrsHost.exe has sttoped.

    Can it be permissions problem?

    Thank advanced.

    Hi bruno_soares,

have you checked this discussion about Task Server configuration?

    1. Please open Symantec Installation Manager and check is there any warning messages for Symantec Management Platform product? In case of not proper upgrade, it shows warning message that product isn't properly configured.

    2. Does "Altiris Object Host Service" service is running under "Local System" account?

    3. "Atrs.Host.config", "AtrsHost.exe.config", "Web.config" aren't empty in this location on TS machine?

    • C:\Program Files\Altiris\Altiris Agent\Client Task Server\

    Regards,

    IP.

You need to also make sure you uninstall all IIS including config in case of permission problems: start /w Uninstaller.exe –fServerUninstall.xml -q start “” /w pkgmgr.exe /uu:IIS-WebServerRole;WAS-WindowsActivationService Then delete the contents of inetpub and %WINDIR%\system32\inetsrv.
