  • 1.  Error when installing DCS 6.5 server to SQL 2012 DB server

    Posted Sep 16, 2015 01:34 AM

I have a virtual environment, all running Server 2008, My SQL server is 2012 - I can connect to SQL port from proposed DCS server, I can ping the SQL server on both name and IP address. On the SQL 2012 management studio I can connect using mixed mode authenthication and test connectivity to the DB 100%

Yet, when I try to run the management server setup and I get to the point where I need to enter the DB configuration I am stuck when I get this error? See attached, I have run through all the articles to check 1) Changed the sa password to more complex, 2) checked the connectivity to DB and instance name etc.. I have even tried to download the latest MDAC patches from Microsoft and still have the same error.

Can someone please help to resolve this issue.....180px_MDAC requirement for SQL Databse.jpg

    Message:

Unable to connect to the specific database.

Please verify the Database settings and MDAC installation.

Proper installation of MDAC 2.7 SP1 or higher is required.

I managed to workout that my SQL instance had no name- just the host name. So if i left that blank, it goes through now.
