    Here are suggestions for pre-conference education on Tuesday 12/2

     

    Full day:  SQL and Web Connectivity  for CA IDMS  

    This session will cover the relational SQL language and how SQL enables connectivity to CA IDMS™ data from Web, Java and Windows environments. This session is appropriate for all CA IDMS sites and introduces new features that provide expanded access to SQL and Web connectivity technology for all CA IDMS customers. The session agenda covers SQL statements for retrieving and modifying data, SQL lab exercises, CA IDMS SQL extensions, ODBC and JDBC connectivity, and enabling efficient data-driven web applications with this technology.

     

    Full day new dba training comprised of the following 3 courses:

    CA IDMS/DB Database Maintenance

    This course is designed to introduce the new Database Administrator (DBA) to database maintenance using CA IDMS/DB.  Understanding database maintenance allows the DBA to effectively maintain the integrity of their organization's data.

    What you will learn

    * Identify and evaluate the need for maintenance activities

    * Perform recurring maintenance

    * Enlarge the database, as needed

    * Modify the database structure

    * Recover the database

     

    Managing the CA IDMS CV

    This course is designed to introduce the new Database Administrator (DBA) to Central Version (CV) management so that they will be able to extract the best performance from their CV.

    What you will learn

    * Define the dictionaries

    * Use the SYSGEN compiler to define the system

    * Startup the IDMS Central Version

    * Troubleshoot the Central Version

     

     

    Managing CA IDMS Security

    What you will learn

    * Identify internal vs. external options

    * Use Security Task Codes

    * Secure Application Responses

    * Configure Signon Security
