  • 1.  MCS metrics from CDM not visible/not in DB

    Hello everyone,

    I have a situation regarding CDM metrics managed by MCS. Basically CDM metrics are not showing up/written into DB. MCS profiles for CDM are OK (as in OC Monitoring Config shows successfully Deployed for CPU Monitor for example). On the robot in log of CDM probe I can see the metrics values showing up.

    I tried _nis_cache_clean on robot.

    I tried profile_recon_job from mon_config_service_recon.

    I tried plugin_metric_corection.

    Nothing helped - only workaround was to stop the robot, remove robot from inventory without blacklisting or deleting metrics, start robot, add robot to all groups for MCS configs and add Device MCS configs if there are any. After that applied plugin_metric_corection. That seems to remedy the problem.

    But I have more than 150 robots with this problem, including Primary Hub and OC robot, where I am not sure if I can use this method.

    Does anyone have any advice?

    The problem is related to problem in the past with upgrade MCS templates for CDM - I have skipped some and applied new over, and had to do manual DB cleanup.

    My environment is up-to-date (CDM 6.84-MC, UIM 20.4 CU6).

    Thanks,

    Vaclav

    This "could" be a mismatch in qos metric_id.

    There are several documents that try to explain this problem:

    • https://knowledge.broadcom.com/external/article/34008/ump-no-metrics-available-displayed-for.html
    • https://knowledge.broadcom.com/external/article/45476/troubleshooting-missing-data-in-uim.html (and here a possibility could be point 4c)

    Hello,

    I had a similar problem after I enabled the Nic Monitor enhanced MCS profile. Half of the robots stopped collecting CDM metrics.

    Disabling the profile did not solve the problem.

    My solution was:

          0. Disable Nic Monitor Enhanced MCS profile;

    1. Run a script to rename plugin_metric.cfg on all the robots;
    2. Delete all the robots from the inventory, but keeping the metrics and the alarms;
    3. Restart the robots in IM.

    After this adventure I stopped using enhanced MCS profiles.
