Allocation of Pollagent and baseline_engine probes to network devices

    Hi Community,

Does any one knows how pollagent and baseline_engine assigned to network device which has discovered via SNMPCollector Probe. We had discovered network devices but pollagent and baseline_endine probes are not not assigning to the devices. Kindly suggest if any one had experienced this issue and how to resolve it.

Hi Eshwar, pollagent is a silent component of SNMPcollector. In older versions of UIM pollagent used to run as a separate probe, but it has since long integrated inside the Snmpcollector probe. So the pollagent role can be ignored when monitoring Network Devices.

baseline_engine (together with prediction_engine) are in charge of calculating and maintaining baselines, when enabled by supported probes, to serve as source for Time over Threshold (TOT) and Time to Threshold (TTT) Dynamic alarming.

The answer to your question depends on what you are trying to achieve. Baselines can be enabled in 2 ways, Via Admin Console GUI supported probes or via MCS. Depending on how you enable the baseline calculation you have the basline_engine involved or not.

Cannot retrieve baselines from command line for MCS Alarm Policies baselines (broadcom.com)
