Hi everybody,

since a few weeks I am facing with an issue using VMware Workstation 17.6.3. In this case it does not matter whether using Player or Workstation Pro.

I am using my Virtual Machine with 2 Monitor Layout and from time to time, the VM is switching automatically back to single monitor layout. This can happen multiple times per day and it is very annoying.

Before the issue accured, I was working with Windows 10 and never had this issue.

In my opinion the issue started, since the upgrade to Windows 11.

My current setup is:

  • Dell Precision 7750
  • Dell Dock WD19DC
  • 3 Monitors (2 directly to the dock, 1 direct to laptop)
  • Windows 11 on host (upgrade from Windows 10, no fresh installation)
  • VM is running furthermore on Windows 10

Maybe somebody is also facing with this issue and might have solved it.

Thanks to you all.

Greetings Alex

When this happens, does your VM remain in full-screen mode, or does it switch to windowed mode?

Can you provide a copy of the UI log when this happens? (The location of the UI log is listed in the Help > About dialog.)

Yes, it remains in full-screen mode.

I have to add some more information (I will also edit the initial post message):

The host is running on Windows 11 (upgrade from Windows 10, no fresh installation) and my VM is running furthermore on Windows 10.

There was no hardware replacement

I attached the log file you have requested. It contains data from October 7.

I switched to two monitor layout at 04:22. The two monitor layout crashed at 04:38.

Thanks for your support.

Hi Alex,

Any luck with this issue? I am on 17.6.2, also switched from PC with Win10 to new PC with Win11.

Support Team? Some of us actually paid for license.

Cheers,
