We have a vCenter Server 8 Standard instance-based license for VCF 8 that we purchased, and we also have vSphere 8 Enterprise Plus license cores left over from deployments in a couple of environments we have. Considering the 16-cores-per-CPU minimum there is now for ESXi hosts using VCF 8 licensing, the remaining cores available (88 cores) only split out to cover only 2 systems (with 24 cores remaining: we have a mixture of 24 and 32-core servers, where a 32-core license is required, even for the 24-core systems to meet the minimums). So we have a 160-core vCenter license available and enough cores to cover two hosts at 32-cores each.
Can we set up a VCF 8 lab with a vCenter and only two ESXi hosts? Note that, although we have the vSAN license included with our VCF suite package we purchased (with matching number of TiBs to the number of vCenter 8 Standard instances), we do NOT plan to use vSAN for storage (unless this is NOT hardware-specific and/or unless you can use no more than 2 ESXi hosts). We will use our own storage array. Thanks, in advance.
