Hi Guys,

Can we use single SRM for both vCenters (VCF Mgmt & VI WKLD domain) which are in single SSO with below scenarios?

  1. Mangement Domain's management VMs (i.e. Aria VMs) to be protected & replicated to DR site using SRM & VR.
  2. Same SRM to be used to protect workloads in VI WKLD domain along with SRA (storage replication array) to DR site's VI WKLD domain.

Do we see any constraint using single SRM for both vCenters which are in single SSO domain? or do we need to use two separate SRMs- 1st for VMs in Mgmt domain and 2nd for VMs in VI WKLD domain?

SRM supports environments with a linked mode configuration and it is not recommended to install more than one SRM server into the same ELM group.  According to this (end) - https://techdocs.broadcom.com/us/en/vmware-cis/live-recovery/live-site-recovery/9-0/overview/site-recovery-manager-appliance-overview/site-recovery-manager-and-vcenter-server-deployment-models.html

I am not completely certain that your setup will work, but it sounds like it should. You may be able to test something like this out in the Hands-on Lab for SRM - https://labs.hol.vmware.com/HOL/catalog/lab/14173

When looking at protecting the management VMs for a VCF environment, I suggest looking at this document for more information since it outlines what makes sense to protect to a DR site vs. what should be run as a separate instance and not replicated.

I will see if I can get a more definitive answer.

I had a little uncertainty based on the documentation, but the engineering team has clarified it: you will need to add a separate SRM/VLSR server for each vCenter Server, even if they are in the same SSO domain.
