I am running ESXI4 on HP DL380 G5's and the issue i am having is that all of my XP workstations freeze up over night so each morning i have to reboot the host. shutting down the Xp workstation does not resolve the issue. Mean while the Server 03 machines are running fine. I have 3 host set up and have moved the Xp boxes around and no matter which host they have the same problem. i used the same ISO file to create these work station as i did the work stations that i connect VIA VMwork station, and connecting through work station i do not have this problem. the only diference is the user for the VM's on the ESX server connect VIA dameware or remote desk top. i have VM Tools installed on all the boxes and have set up the storage as suggested by VMWare and HP. i am looking for a reason that may cause this. it only appears to be the XP machines because as stated before i have server 03 and i have one workstation 2000 Vm running. and they work fine regard less of which server they are on, and the work stations freeze no matter which server they are on.

Thanks any advice would be great.

You will need to provide some more information. Resources, configuration details, etc. Have a look through the vmware.log files for the VM,s and have a look through the ESXi host log files and post anything that might seem relevant.

The logs show no errors VM or host logs. no resource spike the machines freeze normally at night when little useage. The ESX boxes are HPDL380 G5 64GB ram with attached HP MSA all 300GB drives with seperate raid as suggested by VMWare for no more that 8 Vm's per drive curently no more that 5 VM's per box all setting are 1G ram and 1 CPU and 25 GB hard Drive leaveing well over 50 of everything not used.

Converted from physical or fresh install? Any possibility that there is a power saving setting on the VM? Machines are or are not pingable? Remote access to taskmanager / PSLIST possible??

I have tried fresh install, converted, as well as used a Vm that i run stand alone through VM workstation by it self that has had not issue and all builds do the same thing. freeze and the only way to reset is to reboot the host esx box. nothing else responds.
