    Posted Dec 06, 2012 02:38 PM

    Hi,

We have an ESXi server with 4 VM on it. 2 of them are WS2008 and are running absolutely fine.

The 2 other ones are WS2003 and we have big issues with them : they are very very very slow....

I looked everything, changed the HAL to monocpu (and changed it on the host too) but nothing change : those 2 machines are only using 30 to 50 Mhz and never more (only when they are booting, whit the WS Logo on screen, at that time they can take up to 2200 Mhz.) The problem is, I think, on this behaviour, but I can't find a way to make them use the hardware more than this.

Does anybody already had this problem ?

Thank you for your feedbacks !

    Christophe.

Can you confirm vm tools are installed?

Whats the memory usage looking like?

Yes, the VMWare tools are installed.

    Memory seems OK.

There is 4 Go for this virtual machine. During boot sequence, the usage goes up to 98%, but after it goes down to 20%

How much memory is on your ESXi host?  I see you stated memory was "OK" but, would just like to know the values to officilally dismiss this from being related to memory over commitment.

Are these Dell hosts by any chance? If yes, check the BIOS and set the power mode to MAX performance and disable C1E.
