  • 1.  World ID to VM corrolation

    HI Folks.

We've recently had a PSOD on one of the hosts in our cluster.  The Error is: PF Exception 14 in World......

I would like to identify which VM was the one that "caused" the crash -- Don't know yet what I can do about it, but I can at least keep an eye out if it happens again.

I've search all the hosts using the "esxcli vm process list" command, but the World ID was not found....

So I presume that as HA restarted the downed VMs on other hosts, their World ID changed.  - Either because of the restart, or the vMotion involved.

Question:  Is there a way to find out which VM had the World ID specified in the PSOD?

    Thanks.

    Hi,

Exception 14 is a page fault, It does not always mean a VM has caused the crash,

you may need to look into the stack trace. I would suggest you open up a case with VMware with the Support bundle or if you have a screenshot post it here.

you could check the hostd.log for the process Id But you are correct it would have changed now.

    Thanks,

    Avinash
